When I am integrating via substitution in definate integrals, should the function be conts. On the entire Interval including the end points or excluding the end points i.e it should be conts. on (0,a) or [0,a]???
Suppose I have to integrate sec^2x/tanx on (0,pi/2) then tanx in conts on (0,pi/2) but NoT on [0,pi/2] so should I make changes in the limit or directly integrate????

In the NCERT it is given that tanx is a conts function
However tanx at x=pi/2 gives different values at LHL and RHL
(At LHL it is +ve infinity and at RHL it is -ve infinity)
So how is tanx conts when it has different RHL and LHL values at pi/2????
