1. Justify the title, ‘Lost Spring’, in about 120-150 words. How is the menace of Child labour explained by the writer?

2. Decipher the hidden emotions in the smile of Kamala Das (my mother at sixty-six)

Dear student
Kindly post each question in a separate thread to provide answers quickly.
Answer for question no.1:
Spring is the season of bloom. Childhood is considered to be the spring of human life as children are young, happy and carefree. There is nothing to be bothered about. However, life is not so easy and carefree for children like Saheb-e-Alam and Mukesh. Their spring is lost either in scrounging the heaps of garbage or in bangle making industry. Their shoulders have been burdened by familial responsibilities at this tender age itself. Hence, the title is quite appropriate.
