The main uses of plastic includes the manufacture of fibres, textiles, carbonated drinks bottles, peanut butter jars, plastic film, microwavable packaging, supermarket bags, plastic bottles, detergent bottles as well as milk jugs. Plastic is also used in making computer monitors, printers, keyboards and drainage pipes.

The uses of plastics are

1. They are used to pack liquids such as milk; polythne pipes are used to transport liquids such as oil water.
2. They are used as covering for electric wires; used to make shoes, handbags, furniture, upholstery, floor coverings, raincoats bottles.
3. They are used as a packaging material for delicate objects like electronic items to make thermocol; used to insulate the hollow walls of refrigerators.
4. They are used as a substitute for glass, for making windows in aeroplanes windscreens of cars
5. They are used as a non-stick coating on pans other cooking utensils.
6. They are used for making buttons, plugs, swithes other electrical fitting.
7. They are used as table-tops, for making crockery.
8. As they are non-reactive with water air they are used to store chemicals.
9. As they are poor conductor of heat they are used to make handles of cooking utensils.
10. Plastics are poor conductors of electricity so they are used to coat electric wires.
