14. Describe the rooftop rainwater harvesting technique.

  • In it, rainwater is stored and conserved for later use.
  • Roofs have a network of pipes that lead to huge tanks.
  • Water falling on these roofs travels down the pipes, into the tanks and is stored.
  • This water is often used to recharge groundwater, hand-pumps and tube-wells as well. 
  • The first rain's water is often neglected as it is used to clean the roofs and pipes. The second rain is collected.
  • It's most commonly practiced in Rajasthan due to the unavailability of water.
