1 Let the coordinates of A and B be (a, 0) and (0, b) respectively Given, PA = 2PB âˆ´ PA : PB = 2 : 1 â‡’ P(2, 3) divides AB in the ratio 2 : 1 $Coordinates of P = (\frac{2 \times 0 + 1 \times a}{2 + 1}, \frac{2 \times b + 1 \times 0}{2 + 1}) ∴ (2, 3) = (\frac{a}{3}, \frac{2 b}{3}) \Rightarrow \frac{a}{3} = 2 and \frac{2 b}{3} = 3 \Rightarrow a = 6 and b = \frac{9}{2}$ Thus, the coordinates of A and B are (6, 0) and $(0, \frac{9}{2})$ respectively 2
