A bar magnet has no marking to incicate its poles . How would you find out near which end is its north pole located ?
Suspend the magnet with a thread and wait until it comes to rest. The side of the magnet which points to the geograohical - north is the magnet's North Pole and the other side facing the geograohical - south is the South Pole.

- Take a magnet in which already th poles are found and let it indicate magnet A and the other magnet (in which you have to find the poles) as B. Now bring the north pole of the magnet A towards any pole of the magnet B. If it shows repultion then the pole you are testing in the magnet B is north and if it shows attraction it is south pole of the magnet B.
