For final mass = (m1 + m2) =(1+0.020 ) =1.020 kg

m1u1 + m2 u2 = mv
0.02 × 500 + 0 = (1 + 0.02) v
10 = 1.02v
10 / 1.02 = v
v = 9.80m/s
