a cuboid has total surface area of 50 meter square and lateral surface area of 30 metre square. what is the area of its base ?

Total surface area = 2(lb+bh+hl) = 50

 lb+bh+hl = 25  ..(i)

Lateral surface area = 2(l+b)h = 30

lh+bh = 15 ....(ii)

From equation (i) and (ii) ,

lb = 25 - 15 = 10 m2

  • 4

Total surface area of cuboid = 2(lb + bh + hl)

 2(lb + bh + hl) = 50

(lb + bh + hl) = 25

Lateral surface area = lb + 2(bh + hl)

lb + bh + bh + hl + hl = 30

( lb + bh + hl ) + hl + bh = 30

25 + bh + hl = 30

bh + hl = 5

( lb + bh + hl ) = 25

lb +( bh + hl) = 25

lb + 5 = 25

lb = 20

Thus the area of the base of the cuboid is 20 cm2
