a cylinder containing N2 gas at one atmospheric pressure is connected to another evacuated cylinder of 0.5 litre capacity through a stop cock. on opening the stop cock , the pressure of the gas in the two cylinders becomes constant at 570 mm at the same temperature . calculate the volume of the cylinder containing N2.

P1= 1atm,

P2= 570 mm of Hg= 0.75 atm.

Let the volume of cylinder having N2 = V1

V2= V1+0.5 L




we get

V1= 0.75(V1+0.5)


V1= 1.51L
