When a die is thrown then the possible outcomes are : 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

So, total number of possible outcomes = 6

since, 5 and 6 are the only two outcomes that are greater than 4, so

number of favorable outcomes = 2

prabability= no of fav outcomes -------------------- total no of outcome

this implies 2/6=1/3=probability
