A grocer buys 10 eggs for Rs.8,set up a linear equation with x representing the number of eggs and y representing the total cost in Rs. By reading the graph find :
1.The cost of 15 eggs
2.number of eggs for Rs.16
Given: x represents the number of eggs and y represents the total cost of eggs.
Grocer purchase 10 eggs for Rs 8
∴ Cost price of 1 egg =
Hence, total cost of eggs = Number of eggs × Cost price of 1 egg
⇒ 10y – 8x = 0
⇒ 5y – 4x = 0
x | 5 | 2.5 | 0 |
y | 4 | 2 | 0 |
Using graph
(i) Cost of 15 eggs corresponds to 12 Rs.
(ii) Number of eggs for Rs. 16 correspond to 20 eggs.
Cheers!
