a man growth is seen in succesives choices

Dear Student,

A man’s growth is seen in his succession of choices. In order to discuss what this entails, we must first discuss the importance of good choices. Choices are a part of everyday life. It can be something as simple as deciding what to have for dinner. It can also be something as life-changing as deciding what career path to choose. We encounter choices that have to be made every minute of every day. Many times, we aren’t even aware of the choices we make. Yet, every choice has a consequence, be it big or small.

It is important that we understand that it is the choices we make in the present, which direct our experiences in the future. We should recognise that the power and the responsibility of taking the right decision lie with us only. Sometimes, making the right choice or even knowing how to choose is very hard. It is in such times that we have to believe in ourselves and learn to draw on our inner strength to stand fast on our decisions. As discussed earlier, the choices we make dictate our lives. It is up to us to ensure no one else makes the choice for us.

We can attain growth in our lives by analysing each and every decision we have to make, even if we think the matter is a trivial one. Growth comes through right choices made in succession. Making the right choices once in a while and letting go at other times won’t yield any results. We need to work hard at our lives; our hard work will only result in success.

Let me illuminate this further with a true story. Samuel Walton is the founder of the Walmart supermarket giant of America. He grew up during the great Depression of America when every American family was struggling financially. He did numerous chores to support his family. He milked the family cow, bottled the surplus and drove it to customers. Afterwards, he would deliver newspapers. In addition, he also sold magazine subscriptions, and worked at various odd jobs, including waiting at tables in exchange for meals. He took a loan to buy his first store. Thanks to his decision to have simple innovations in business, he soon bought his second store. Within three years, his sales volume grew to $225,000. At the time of his death in 1992, he had 1960 stores and annual sales of about $50 billion. His choice to work hard at his jobs, be it or small and all his business choices led him to be one of the richest people in America.

The story of Samuel Walton teaches us how the right decisions can change the course of a person’s life. It is not just one decision that makes the difference. It is a chain of right choices that does it.
