A reaction between sodium hydroxide and hydrogen chloride gas produces sodium chloride and water. A reaction of 22.85g of sodium hydroxide with 20.82g of hydrogen chloride gives offf 10.29g of water. What mass of sodium chloride is formed in the reaction?

From the law of conservation of mass, we know that the total mass of reactants and total mass of product remains the same after reaction.

NaOH + HCl -- NaCl + H2O

Let the mass of sodium chloride formed be x grams.

22.85 g + 20.82 g = x + 10.29 g

x = 22.85 g + 20.82 g - 10.29 g

x = 33.38 g

Therefore 33.38 g of NaCl is formed in the reaction.
