let the price of the geyser be x

as 1242 inculdes the price as well as tax

1242=x + 8/100*x 

(after cutting u get)

1242= x + 2x/25

1242 = 25x+2x /25

1242 = 27x / 25

x = 25/27*1242

after cutting

1150
