A source is producing 1500 sound waves in 3 sec. If the distance covered by rarefaction and compression be 68cm. find
a)frequency
b)wavelength
c)velocity of sound wave
Given,
Number of vibrations in 3 seconds=1500
(i) Number of vibrations in 1 second=1500 / 3=500
So, frequency=500
(ii) Distance covered by a compression and an adjacent rarefaction=Wavelength=68 cm
(iii) Velocity of sound wave=v=frequency x wavelength=500 x 68=34000 cm/sec or 340 m/s
