A textbok measuring 15cm*10cm*2.5cm is to be covered with brown paper. find how much paper is required for covering the book if 84 sq.cm gets used up in folds?

please help me out.

The length, breadth and height of the textbook are 15 cm, 10 cm and 2.5 cm respectively.

The area of paper required to cover the text book = area of top and bottom face + area of side face

 = (lb + lb + lh)

= 2lb + lh = (2 × 15 × 10) + (15 × 2.5) = 300 + 37.5 = 337.5

Since, of paper is used in folds,

so, the total area of paper required to cover the book = 337.5 + 84 = 421.5

but as far per my knowledge only 3 faces get covered with paper/

3 faces are left blank

Area Of Top Face = Length*breadth = 15*10 = 150

Area Of Bottom = 150

Total Area  = 300 cm2

Area Of Left Side Face = Breadth*Height = 10*2.5 = 25 cm2

Total Area = 300+25 = 325 cm2

Amount Of Paper Used = 325-84 = 241 cm2
