Mariculture is the culturing of marine fishes, shell fishes and other marine life in the seas or in ponds filled with sea water.

Advantages of mariculture are:

1) Marine fishes are a very good source of certain vitamins and minerals like iodine.

2) Mariculture is used to obtain a major part of edible fishes required by world.

3) If done in a sustainable form then it is environmental friendly.
