After rain we find many earthworms on the ground. why?

Earthworms breathe the oxygen present in soil through their moist skin. After rains the soil becomes logged with water and it's oxygen runs out. Due to this lack of oxygen earthworms comes out on the ground to breathe the oxygen present in air. Hence we find many earthworms on ground after rain.
