All plants give out oxygen during day and carbon dioxide duringnight”. Do you agree with this statement? Give reason.

all living beings need oxygen for respiration.

plants as well as animals take up oxygen and give out carbondioxide but due to the presence of sunlight during the day plants take the Co2 released by them for the preparation of their food but this process do not happen during night as their is no presence of sunlight during night and hence they are said to release Co2 at night..!!

AS WE KNOW THAT PHOTOSYNTHESIS TAKES PLACE IN LIGHT .IN DAY BOTH RESPIRATION AND PHOTOSYNTHESIS TAKES PLACE .THE WASTE C02 IS RELEASED DURING RESPIRATION IS UTILISED BY PLANTS FOR PHOTOSYNTHESIS THEREFORE ONLY O2 IS RELEASED DURING DAY AND AT NIGHT NO LIGHT IS PRESENT SO NO PHOSYNTHESIS TAKES PLACE THEREFORE ONLYCO2 IS RELEASED OUT.........

YES I AGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT. BOTH RESPIRATION AND PHOTOSYNTHESIS TAKES PLACE DURING THE DAY.SINCE THE RATE OF RESPIRATION IS SLOW HENCE CO2 RELEASED IS USED UP BY PLANTS IN PHOTOSYNTHESIS.SINCE THE PHOTOSYNTHESIS IS FAST SO FEW AMOUNTS OF OL2 IS USED UP BY PLANTS IN RESPIRATION.DURING THE NIGHT SINCE THERE IS NO LIGHT HENCE NO PHOTOSYNTHESIS TAKES PLACE AND ONLY CO2 IS RELEASED.

no becaus co2 is taken by desert palnts during the night

What about desert plants ?

but as per as my knowledge plants intake carbon dioxide. they give out o2 during day as because they in take co2 and prepare their food in the presence of sunlight in day and give out oxygen but at the night they observe more co2 even in the absence of sunlight i guess and according to me they don't release co2 as they say the elders not to go near the plants or trees during nights

No, because  plants take co2 in day One of the first things taught in biology class is that animals breathe in oxygen and exhale CO2, while plants take in CO2 during the day and release oxygen. In a process called “photosynthesis,” plants use the energy in sunlight to convert CO2 and water to sugar and oxygen. The plants use the sugar for food—food that we use, too, when we eat plants or animals that have eaten plants — and they release the oxygen into the atmosphere. If it were not for plants, we would have no oxygen in our air

The amount of oxygen the plants in your bedroom use at night is trivial. Think about the earth as a giant bedroom and you’ll see that animals would be in pretty big trouble if plants used up a significant amount of oxygen every night.

No,During the night, plants consume oxygen but they don't release any. All plants and animals on earth engage in a process called respiration. Respiration combinesoxygen and the food created during photosynthesis to produce usable energy. One of the byproducts of respiration is carbon dioxide. One of the first things taught in biology class is that animals breathe in oxygen and exhale CO2, while plants take in CO2 during the day and release oxygen. In a process called “photosynthesis,” plants use the energy in sunlight to convert CO2and water to sugar and oxygen

All living beings require oxygen for the process of respiration therefore, both plants and animals taken in oxygen and release carbon dioxide in the process of respiration. But during the daytime, due to the presence of sunlight plants perform photosynthesis. As the rate of photosynthesis is greater than the rate of respiration, the carbon dioxide released as a byproduct of respiration, gets utilised in the process of photosynthesis. During the night time, due to the absence of sunlight, photosynthesis cannot be performed and hence the carbon dioxide is is been released by the plants.

bikar question

  • 3
no ,the plant take CO2 DURING day time . and some plant during the night take O2 .
  • 1
Yes i agree they prepare their food with the process of photosynthesis realising o2 and plant respire at night realising co2
  • 4
yes..we agree, as During day time,  the rate of photosynthesis is more than the rate of respiration, the net result is evolution of oxygen. At night, there is no sunlight, there is no photosynthesis, so they give out carbon dioxide due to respiration..!!

yes i agree

yes i agree

Yes. I agree with this statement. during day plants prepare their food through the process of photosynthesis. For this process they need carbon dioxide. So they intake carbon dioxide and the outlet will be oxygen during the day. But during the night the plants respire. For the process of respiration they need oxygen. Therefore they intake oxygen and give out carbon dioxide.

Desert plants take cow at night
  • -4
No I don't agree with this statement. The desert plants take up CO2 at night and prepare an intermediate which is acted upon by the energy absorbed by the chlorophyll during the day. Therefore it's not necessary that all plants release CO2 at night

I agree with this statement because during the day time photosynthesis occurs and the carbon dioxide is used by plants to ensure the process of photosynthesis and they releases oxygen but during night no process of photosynthesis is occurring and the carbon dioxide is not useful for them so they releases carbon dioxide at night
