an aquarium is in the form of a cuboid whose external measures are 80cm* 30cm * 40cm .The base,side faces and back face are to be covered with a coloured paper. Find the area of the paper needed?

 L S A = 2 h ( l + b )

 = 2 * 40 ( 80 + 30 )

= 8800 cm 2

first area of the aquarium = 2(80 * 30 + 30 * 40 + 80 * 40)

                                              =2( 2400 + 1200 + 3200)

                                              = 13600

therefore area of paper needed = 13600 - (area of front face + area of the top)

                                                         = 13600 - ( 80 * 40 + 80 * 30 )

                                                         = 13600 - 5600

                                                         = 8000

therefore answer is 8000
