an hour glass is made using identical cones double glass cones of diameter 10 centimetre each of the total height is 24 centimetre then find the surface area of the glass used in making it

Dear Student,

Please find below the solution to the asked query:

From given information we form our diagram , As :

Here ,  Radius of base of each cone = r = 5 cm; height of each cone = h = 12 cm

So,

Surface area of glass used  = 2 ( TSA of each cone )

slant height of each cone = l = r2+h2 = 52+122 = 25+144 = 169 = 13 cmNow, TSA of each cone = πrl+r = 227×513+5 = 227×5×18 = 19807 cm2So, surface area of glass used = 2×19807 = 39607 565.71 cm2
Hope this information will clear your doubts about Surface Areas and Volumes .
