an object A moving horizontally with kinetic energy of 800 J experiences a constant horizontal opposing force of 100 N while moving from point X to point Y where XY =2 m . what is the energy of A at Y ? In what further distance will A come to rest if this opposing force continues to act on it ?

1. work = force X distance= 100 X 2 = 200 N

.'. net energyof object = 800 - 200 = 600N

2.work done by 100 N force has to be equal to the kinetic energy. only then will the object stop.

work= force X distance

800 = 100 X d

d= 8m

the body has already covered 2 m so in a further distance of 8-2= 6m the body will come to rest.

Thumbs up plzz if this helped.....

Solution,

? work done = force ? displacement
or W = 100 ? 2
or. W = 200

Energy at y = 800 - 200
= 600

Let us suppose body will stop after x metre

Now. To get body to rest

Opposing force = kinetic energy of body
100. ? X = 600
X = 6 metre thank u
