Sophie waited for Danny Casey for a while, sitting on a bench beneath a solitary tree. She then began doubting his arrival. It made her sad to think that she would not be able to prove people wrong in doubting her. The burden of sitting there, waiting, and knowing that he would not come, was hard to carry.
