Ques no 5 and 6 have been answered in another thread (same query made by you).

A4. In the first place, the narrator was not comfortable reading another person's letter. Once he did, he was moved by the contents of the letter. He understood that this was perhaps a cherished possession of the letter writer's wife who had kept it safely. It was understandably perhaps the last letter Jim had written Connie. He knew that he just had to track her down, if possible, and hand her the letter.
