Voids or interstitial spaces are the gaps present between different spheres of a crystalline solid. They are of 4 types:
1. Triangular voids- Space between 3 spheres in 2D is called as triangular void.
2.Tetrahedral voids- It is formed when a sphere is placed above a triangular void.
3.Octahedral void-It is formed when 3 spheres pointing in 1 direction are placed above 3 spheres pointing in the opposite direction.
4.Cubic void- The space present between 8 spheres/particles is called as cubic void.
