2) Clarifiers are the settling tanks that are built with mechanical means which helps in continuous removal of solids which are deposited by sedimentation.
It is used to remove solid particulates or suspended solids from liquid for clarification and (or) thickening.
Clarification is a process which allows the  suspended matter to sink to the bottom of a tank or basin, while the clear water overflows which is  further treated to purify the water.

5) A skimmer is a type of a machine that helps to separate liquid or suspended particles from another liquid. Skimmer is usually used to separate oil from water after oil spill on large water bodies.
