Assertion and reasoning. Chemical effects of electric current

Solution :

The answers of question number 1 and 2 are given below.
1.

In electroplating a particular metal,
M+n + ne----------> M
So metal ions of the metal with which electroplating is done, must be present in a solution used for electroplating a particular metal.
Hence, Assertion is true but Reason is false (option c).

2.
Here, both assertion and reason are true, but the reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion (option b).
The reason is, during electrolysis there is a conversion of a liquid state to a gaseous state (physical change). It fails to explain what type of chemical change is observed. But the statement is true with respect to the products formed and changes occurring in the physical state.
The assertion needs an explanation for both types of changes - chemical and physical which is not well given in the reason.
