Briefly explain the principle of launching an artificial satellite. Explain the

use of multistage rockets in launching a satellite.

Artificial satellites are propelled in outer space on the back of space rockets. Their launching principal is given below

A very famous application of Newton's Third Law of motion is in process of rocket propulsion.

A rocket basically consists of two main parts, combustion and exhaust chambers.

Have a look at a simplified diagram of a standard rocket.

The arrow show he direction of pressure (force) waves generated by combustion of rocket fuel. The exhaust gases travel down the body of the rocket and rush outwards through the exhaust, generating heavy thrust. This thrust is responsible for lifting the rocket upwards.

For a typical four-staged rocket the following will occur (also look at the figure below)

(1) First Stage in which rocket boosters are ejected

(2) Second Stage in which lower level (A) is ejected

(3) Third Stage in which the middle level (B) is ejected

(4) Fourth Stage is when the payload is removed
