Bring out the significance of the phrase 'winter landscape' in the context of author's grandma. (from the book Hornbill class 11 CBSE, chapter - the portrait of a lady)

Dear student
In the story the portrait of a lady, Khushwant Singh says that she was like a winter landscape as she was very old, her hair were white, and being a widow she used to wear white clothes which gave a glance of fallen snow on mountains. He compares his grandmother's beauty with the "pure white serenity" of a winter landscape. She imbibed that "peace and contentment" in her appearance and beauty.
Hope this helps!
Regards
