By applying a force of 1N, approx. what mass of body can a person hold?


Here the person is holding the weight against the pull of gravity. The force exerted (F) would thus be

 F = mg

where m is the mass and g is the acceleration due to gravity.

so,  m = F/g 

given: F = 1 N

and we know g = 10 m/s2

thus    m = 1/10 = 0.1 kg

which is the required answer.

in this case person will not be able to hold , because for holding F>mg , so it can hold anything < 0 .1 mg but not = 0.1 mg. the person will fell down with weight .
