the solution is directly proportional to its mole fraction.

i.e.

Pa =Pa0Xa

also

Pb =Pb0Xb

Ptotal  =Pa+ Pb = Pa0Xa + Pb0Xb

or

so for a solution

Pa=Ptotal/Xa
