Calculate the weight of iron which will be converted into its oxide ( Fe3O4) by the action of 14.4g of steam on it ?

3Fe + 4H2O → Fe3O4 + H2

3 moles of Iron react with 4 moles of steam to give 1 mole of Fe3O4

Number of moles in14.4 grams of steam:

= 14.4 / 18

= 0.8 moles

Therefore number of moles of Fe that will react with 0.8 moles of steam:

= 3 * 0.8 / 4

= 0.6 moles of iron will react with 0.8 moles of oxygen

1 mole of Fe weighs 56 grams

Therefore 0.6 moles will weigh:

= 56 * 0.6

= 33.6g of Fe
