(a) Adaptation 1 : The stem of cactus is green and the leaves are reduced into spines.
How it helps? This helps the cactus plant to reduce excessive loss of water during Transpiration.

Adaptation 2: The roots of cactus penetrate deep in to the soil.
How it helps? In desert region, water table is very low. So, roots go deep into the soil in order to procure water.

(b) Hummingbirds
Adaptation: They have long and narrow beaks.
How it helps? It helps them to reach the nectar from long and tubular shaped flowers found in cactus.
