Can u guys give me the meaning and sentence for the words:

dependant and dependent

The definition of dependent is relying on someone or something else, or a clause that cannot stand alone as a sentence. (adjective)

  1. An example of dependent is a child to a parent.
  2. An example of dependent is "when the rain fell."

Dependent is defined as someone who relies on someone else for their existence. (noun)

An example of a dependent is the child of a man.

Dependant-somebody who is supported financially by another. (it is UK Spelling) for eg-She is an unmarried woman with no dependants.(no one depends on her financially).

Dependent-needing to rely on or trust in somebody or something for help or support. For eg- Some countries are heavily dependent on oil revenues.(it is also used as "to depend on someone for financial support"(in noun form)

Dependent and Dependant have same meaning in noun form but dependent has a adjective form but dependant doesn't. So, basically dependant is used to refer someone and dependent( in adjective form) is used to describe someone. Remember that dependent is the American spelling of the word dependant and is also used as an adjective but dependant is the UK spelling but not used as an adjective
