Can you explain the reason , as a massive amount of gaseous exchange takes place in the stomata

Gaseous exchange in plants occurs through diffusion with help of stomata and lenticels.
There is not much requirement for gaseous exchange as every part of plant take care of its own gaseous exchange.
Thus the distance that gases diffuse is not much larger.
