No the main substance commonly used to make filament is tungston.
We canot use copper as it is a very Good conductor, the current would simply follow through the copper without dissipating much energy (which means nothing would light up).
Sakshi Shah answered this
Yes, we can use copper wire to make the filament of an electric bulb as copper is a good conductor.
Arun Mohan answered this
YES YOU ARE RIGHT IS A GOOD CONDUCTOR
Nilay Majorwar answered this
Copper is a good conductor but it cant be used because its melting point is pretty low. But the melting point of tungsten, the material used in filament, has a very high melting point and does not melt when current passes through it for a long time.
Fareeha Rahman answered this
No, copper wire cannot be used to make the filament of an electric bulb as copper wire has very low resistance. Therefore, the bulb will not glow if current is passed. It would also melt.
Aryan Goel answered this
No we cannot use a copper wire to make a filament of an electric bulb as the copper wire will melt easily because of a very low melting point. Nichrome or Tungsten do not have a low melting point so they will not melt and the current will flow through them producing light.
Parijat answered this
we need an element which has higher melting point but compared to tungsten, copper has very low melting point. so tungsten is an suitable material for filament of bulb.
Aryan answered this
it doesnt have high melting point

No, copper wire cannot be used to make the filament of an electric bulb ascopper wire has very low resistance. Therefore, the bulb will not glow if current is passed. It would also melt - the filament has to be white-hot to be any use!
