Carbon compounds are stable give reason

Carbon compounds are stable because of following reasons:

  1. Carbon has fully shared octet of electrons. It has no lone pair or empty orbital in its compounds which makes the compound stable.
  2. Carbon has the ability to form single, double and triple bonds with itself
  3. Carbon forms four covalent bonds in its compounds due to which a chain of carbon atoms can have different side groups attached leading to a wide variety of compounds.

Carbon compounds are usually stable because :

a) Tetravalency - Having 4 electrons in its outer shell , it usually share its electron with other elements to achieve stability

b) Catenation - Carbon has a unique abilty to link itself allowing it to form chains branches , and rings ...

Hope it helps :)
