'Cellular organisation of the body is the defining feature of life forms'. Justify.

Dear student

Cellular organization is directly related to metabolism. All plants, animals, fungi and microbes exhibit metabolism. The sum total of all the chemical reactions occurring in our body is metabolism. No non-living object exhibits metabolism. Metabolic reactions can be demonstrated outside the body in cell-free systems, these are called in-vitro reactions. An isolated metabolic reaction(s) outside the body of an organism, performed in a test tube is neither living nor non-living. We can say, metabolism occurs in all living organisms but wherever the metabolic reactions occur is not necessary a living being.
Cellular organization is a defining feature because each and every living organism is composed of cells whether it be a unicellular or multicellular organism. On the other hand, no non-living organism is composed of cells, therefore cellular organization is a unique property of living beings.
