Co-curricular activities are equally important for a child's overall development. Keeping that in mind a school in Adarsh Nagar, Delhi organised a "Green Games Programme". In one of the activities, students of class VIII were told to plant as many trees as the number of students in the class. If in total 2401 trees were planted by class VIII students then how many students were there in class VIII?

Dear Student,

Total number of trees that were planted = 2401
Let the number of students be x.
So, the number of trees planted by them = x.
According to the question:
 x × x = 2401
 x² = 2401
 x = 49

Hence, total number of students in class VIII = 49
