DEAR EXPERTS

What is quartz crystal ?

Quartz are compound made up of Si and O having molecular formula SiO2. Actually the single molecule has formula SiO4 , but each of the 4 oxygen atoms is linked to another silicon atom in a neighboring molecule, so the the overall formula of quartz is SiO2 as shown below: White ball is Si and red ball is O

It exist in two forms amorphous or crystalline. The crystalline forms is also known as quartz crystal. Quartz crystal can thus be described as a network of interconnected SiO4 molecules as shown below:

please give thumb's up,

Quartzis the second most abundantmineralin theEarth'scontinental crust, afterfeldspar. It is made up of a continuous framework of SiO4siliconoxygentetrahedra, with each oxygen being shared between two tetrahedra, giving an overall formulaSiO2.

There are many different varieties of quartz, several of which are semi-preciousgemstones. Especially in Europe and the Middle East, varieties of quartz have been since antiquity the most commonly used minerals in the making ofjewelryandhardstone carvings.

Quartz crystal:It is silica having the chemical formula SiO2Its shape is a six sided prism terminating with six-sided pyramids at each end. It belongs to the trigonal crystal system. Quartz crystal has piezoelectric properties i.e. it develops an electric potential on applying mechanical stress.
