define gamete,zygote,fertilisation.

Dear student.

A gamete is a cell which carries the genetic information and is produced by the male and the female reproductive organs. The male reproductive organ gives rise to the male gamete and the female reproductive organ gives rise to the female gamete. Example: Sperm and Egg.

Zygote is the diploid cell formed by the fusion of male and female gametes during fertilization in sexual reproduction. Zygote is the first stage in the development process of an organism and it contains all the genetic information essential for the growth of the new organism.

Fertilization is fusion of the male and the female gametes with each other to give rise to a single-celled zygote. The zygote then undergoes repeated divisions to give rise to a new individual.
