1. Existence of a well-organized commercial and banking system.
2. Availability of elaborate economic infrastructure for various industries like mines, harbors, olive oil factories, brickyards, etc.
3. Strong trading networks with Spain, Egypt, North Africa, Italy and the Gallic provinces.
4. Strong economic positions of women.
5. The economy was largely run on slave labour.
