define watt-less current?

the current which does not dissipate any energy is called wattless current. In an AC circuit, the capacitor and inductor oppose the change in current , but do not dissipate it. Instead, they store the energy in form of electric and magnetic field respectively. At the time of resonance, the potential difference across capacitor-inductor is zero. The current flowing at this time is called wattless current. For the same reason, capacitor and inductor are also called wattless components.

IN AC CIRCUIT POWER IS GIVEN BY

REAL POWER=APPERENT POWER *POWER FACTOR

NOW IN CASE OF PURE CAPACITVE OR INDUCTIVE CIRCUITS PHASE DIFFERENCE IS 90 DEGRE.SO PWER FACTOR=COSINE(PHASE DIFFERENCE)=0.SO REAL POWER IS ZERO.IN THIS CASE THE CURRENT WILL BE CALLED AS WATTLESS CURRENT

the current due to which power disipated is zero ie cos phi=0 where cos phi is the power factor.

Currrent which doesn't dissipate any energy.

watt less current is the component of alternating current due which power is consumed in the circuit is zero. i.e. that current in which no power will descipated.

Sin component of current is the wattless current

At the time of RESONANCE , the potential difference across capacitor-inductor is zero. The current flowing at this time is called wattless current. Also when POWER DISSIPATED in a circuit is ZERO(as in inductor and capacitor)... the current in circuit is called wattless current.

see dear, the current in an a.c. circuit is said to wattless if the average power consumed the circuit is zero. okay.

Current that doesnot consume power

The component of the current i.e.Ivsin fi which does not contribute to the power of an a.c. circuit is called idle or wattless current

The current in a.c. circuit is said to be wattless if the average power consumed in the circuit is 0
