define wavelength , frequency , time period , wave velocity , wave number . how are these related ?

1. Wavelength: The distance between one peak or crest of a wave of light, heat, or other energy and the next corresponding peak or crest. It is equal to the speed of the wave divided by its frequency and to the speed of a wave times its period.
λ=vν=vT

2.  Frequency: It is the rate at which a repeating occurrence takes place like the full cycle of a wave. It is usually measured in hertz.
v=νλ=λT

3.  Time period: It means the interval in between the two successive events. It is also defined as the duration of time taken in a cycle in repeating of occurrence and moreover it is given as the reciprocal of events or frequency.
T=1ν

4.  Wave speed: It is determined by multiplying the frequency and the wavelength. Rather a standing wave is formed by the sum of two identical frequency propagating waves travelling in opposite directions.
Wave speedv=νλ

5. Wave number: It is defined as the number of waves in one centimetre of light in a given wavelength which is given as the reciprocal of the wavelength of a wave.
wave number=1λ

You can get the definations by refering from your textbook.

relation:-

wave velocity= wavelenght x frequeny

frequency= 1/ time period and vice-versa
