Democracy is all about political competition and powerplay. there is no scope for morality. Justify this statement.

If we go by the definition of democracy, the statement seems to be unjustified. However, pragmatically the statement is quite justified. Politicians are more concerned about the authority which they'll get by coming into the power. Therefore, voters are influenced by the false promises which is morally incorrect. Even at the power, some decisions are taken in personal interests jeopardizing the nation. This surely affects the credibility of government and mars the original spirit of democracy.
