Let the money in the beginning be Rs x Now, money lost $= 12 \frac{1}{2} % o f x = \frac{25}{2} % o f x = \frac{25 x}{200}$ Remaining money after loss $= x - \frac{25 x}{200} = \frac{200 x - 25 x}{200} = \frac{175 x}{200}$ Now, it is given that after spending 70% of the remaining money, he was left with Rs 210, i e , 100% - 70% = 30% of the remainder money is equal to Rs 210 $\Rightarrow 30 % o f r e m a i n i n g m o n e y = 210 \Rightarrow 30 % \times \frac{175 x}{200} = 210 \Rightarrow \frac{30}{100} \times \frac{175 x}{200} = 210 \Rightarrow x = \frac{210 \times 100 \times 200}{30 \times 175} = 800$ Hence, the money in the beginning is Rs 800 Hope you get it!!
