Describe the method of spawning in carp culture

Dear student,
Please find below the answer:

In carp culture, Spawning is the process of releasing the eggs and sperm usually into the water, by aquatic animals. Most aquatic animals except aquatic mammals, reproduce through a process of spawning.

During the breeding season i.e. June and July, the females of Rohu, Catla and Mrigel release eggs and male releases the sperms into shallow water. Sperms and eggs unite to form spawns. The fish farmers collect the spawns in earthen vessels by filtering them with nets.

People who culture fishes, collect either the spawn (non fertilized gametes) and later fertilize them under controlled conditions; or collect fertilized eggs from the region where fishes spawned. These spawns are then released in the Nursery pond to grow into fry (young juveniles: They are free-swimming but the internal somatic organs are still under development). The fry is collected and transferred to a rearing pond, where it becomes fingerling (juvenile: small in size and not sexually mature).  After the fish has become a fingerling, it is released in a stocking pond. In the stocking pond, the fishes grow into adult fishes, which are later harvested as per need.

Hope this clears your doubt.
Regards.
