Forests are home to a large number of plants and animals.The floor of forests consists of dead and decaying leaves, fruits, seeds, twigs, small herbs, and animals.

 Decomposers are the organisms that convert the dead plants and animals into humus. This Humus forms layer of top soil,rich in nutrients and utilized by plant.
