describe tinning of iron sheets

Tinning is a process of covering a metal with a thin coating of tin.Iron and copper are most commonly tinned. Iron plates are first cleaned by dipping it in dilute sulphuric acid and then washed and scoured. The plates are then dipped into a vessel containing melted tin.The surface of the melted tin is covered with oil to prevent contact with air.The iron plate when pulled out is tinned.
