Differentiate between the following 1) inducer and repressor in operons 2) Vntr and probe 3)Template and coding stand

Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

3.
Template strand
Coding Strand
1 During transcription, only one of the two DNA strands is copied. This is called the template strand because it acts as a template for the mRNA that is being assembled by the ribosomes. The sequence of the mRNA is complementary to the sequence of the template strand. For example, a cytosine on the DNA template strand pairs with a guanine on the mRNA strand, and an adenine pairs with a uracil.

2 Template strand is that strand which has the sequence complementary to that of the newly transcribed mRNA.
3 The direction of this strand is 3'-5'.
4 This is also called as the antisense strand.
1The non-template strand is known as the coding strand. Because the coding strand and the mRNA formed from the template strand are both complementary to the template strand, they will have the same sequence. The only exception is that wherever there is a thymine in the DNA coding strand, there will be a uracil in the mRNA. Remember, RNA has a uracil base instead of the thymine base that is found in DNA.

2 It  is that DNA strand which has sequence similar to RNA formed after transcription except for the change that thymine is present in place of uracil.
3 Coding strand has the polarity 5' → 3'.
4 It is also called sense strand or non template strand

2.
The probe is polymorphic DNA that shows diversity in sequences and used in hybridization techniques of molecular biology to find target complementary sequence in the genome.  Many different probes are used to generate DNA fingerprints.

VNTR- Variable number of tandem repeats is used as probes to find the diversity of genome sequences or to distinguish between two people. These are small DNA sequence arranged tandemly in many copy numbers. The copy number varies from chromosome to chromosome in an individual. The numbers of repeats show a high degree of polymorphism. That is why used as a probe to distinguish between two people, to find out the criminals or to confirm parents of a child.
